Our Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnostic Assessment, is completed primarily for individuals who desire to be admitted into our Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) program. Although this evaluation can be conducted as a stand-alone assessment, preference for this assessment is given to individuals who are waitlisted for our ABA program. This assessment is a good alternative to those individuals who may need psychological testing for autism, but due to time constraints require autism testing results sooner than 6 months. Within appropriate consent, this evaluation also allows review of legal, mental health/medical/substance use history and interviewing of “collateral contacts”. “Collateral contacts” can be practically anyone, such as daycare, family friends, employers, therapists.
What To Expect: Our Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnostic Assessment is conducted in two parts, (1) testing and evaluation and (2) clinical interview. The testing and evaluation are scheduled in sessions according to test. Thus, test sessions may range from 30 minutes to two hours. The duration of the test is dependent on the participation of the individual and test time requirements. The patient and parent must both complete specific testing prior to the clinical interview. The testing component of this evaluation examines the following sectors: Intelligence, Development, Achievement, Intellect, and Function of Behavior. Our Autism Spectrum Disorder Diagnostic Assessment may identify other diagnoses other than Autism and also identifies specific treatment targets pertinent for treatment planning. After the two parts of the evaluation is complete, it takes roughly three (3) months for the report to be transcribed and compiled. In some instances, it may take six (6) months. This is determined by reports in waiting.
